Daylight Savings – Deadly Consequences

Driving to work the Monday after the spring daylight savings change is dangerous.

According to research from the Canadian Ministry of Transport, accidents increase. The increase is not small: approximately by 8%.

Researchers suggest this is because we are all so chronically sleep deprived that one less hour of sleep makes us that much less attentive.

When we are tired, we ‘micro-sleep’ during the day.

When that happens while driving, accidents can happen.

The biggest proof that daylight savings is dangerous?

In fall, when we get that extra hour of sleep, accidents go down by almost the same number.

Stay safe out there.

And get enough sleep.
